Purchase firewood locally to protect our forests. Destructive insects and diseases can get a free ride into our Region in firewood brought in from out of state. For more information, contact the USDA Forest Service Forest Health Management office at (303) 275-5463 and check out the flyer below.

Safety

The best way to stay safe is to adequately prepare for your trip. Knowledge of the area, weather, and your body limitations can help ensure an enjoyable trip.

Restrictions & Closures

The Regional Forester and Forest Supervisors may issue orders that restrict or close certain areas for several reasons: fire activity, wildlife safety or unsafe conditions. Please check the individual Forest or Grassland's Web site for specific information.

Fires & Emergencies

When Stage 1 fire restrictions are in effect, campfires and charcoal barbeques are allowed ONLY in designated fire grills in Forest Service-developed campgrounds. If you are camping outside of a developed campground, called dispersed camping, during Stage 1 fire restrictions, no open fires are allowed. You may use ONLY propane or white gas stoves.

Check the Forest and Grassland Web sites for current information on prescribed burns, wildland fires, and/or other fire emergencies. Check the links below for National, State, and County fire information:
