MMA Overview
Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act (MMA) creates a new prescription drug coverage program for people with Medicare, effective January 1, 2006.
People with Medicare can enroll in one of many drug plans starting on November 15th of each year. People with Medicare and Medicaid or a Medicare Savings Progarm can change plans each month. They do not have to wait until November 15th.
The Department of Human Services’ MMA website is a quick reference for clients, the general public, staff, policymakers, stakeholders and providers looking for information on the Medicare prescription drug program.
