2006 Export Achievement Award Winners

Kanawha Scales & Systems, Inc., located in Poca, WV, is a manufacturer of coal loading and weighing systems for rail cars. Kanawha Scales & Systems, Inc. received the Export Achievement Award in 2006 from Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito and David Spooner, Assistant Secretary of the Import Administration, based upon their export success to a new-to-market sale to Australia. The U.S. Commercial Service Office in Charleston assisted Kanawha Scales & Systems to achieve this export success by providing export counseling which often helps small rural companies to be successful in world markets.

West Virginia Development Office, based in Charleston, WV, actively promotes the growth of the state’s economy through community development, attraction of new industry, as well as the retention and expansion of existing industry. The West Virginia Development Office received the Certificate of Appreciation for Achievement in Trade in 2006 from Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito and David Spooner, Assistant Secretary of the Import Administration, based upon their partnership with the U.S. Commercial Service Office in Charleston in which they cooperatively pull together their expertise to provide export assistance to their clients. Between 1997 and 2006 the partnership between the West Virginia Development Office and the U.S. Commercial Service Office in Charleston, WV has resulted in the generation of numerous export sales for small and medium sized businesses in the region.

Clark Truck Parts, Inc., a leading supplier of U.S. surplus off-road military vehicles used by the mining, oil & gas, agriculture, and forestry industries located in Poca, WV. Clark Truck Parts, Inc. received the Export Achievement Award in 2006 from Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito and David Spooner, Assistant Secretary of the Import Administration, based upon a new-to-market sale to Panama. Clark Truck Parts, Inc. relied on the U.S. Commercial Service Office in Charleston for extensive counseling in regards to the Bureau of Industry and Security Regulations, which helped facilitate their export sale to Panama and other countries.
