Threatened
and Endangered Species Several species of threatened and endangered species can be found at various times of the year on all seven of the national wildlife refuges within the complex. Refuge staff actively manage for most of these species through a number of different operations such as habitat restoration and nest building. One of our biggest success stories has been the wood stork management program at Harris Neck NWR which has resulted in a dramatic increase in the number of these birds that are successfully fledged each year.
