Since its founding in 1935,
the Social Security Administration has always had a mission of providing
people with program information, including outreach to those living
in remote areas.
The American Indian & Alaska Natives
(AIAN) special internet site is the Social Security Administration's
latest effort to provide information to American Indian/Alaska Native
peoples. It also responds to President Bush's Fiscal Year 2002 President's
Management Agenda directive "Share information more quickly
and conveniently between federal and state, local and tribal governments."
