Emergency Management Services of King County

The following workgroups function as part of the Region 6 (King County) Regional Homeland Security Subcommittee: 

All meetings are held at the Regional Communication and Coordination Center (RCECC) unless otherwise noted.

MEPG Equipment

The Multi-Disciplinary Equipment Planning Group (MEPG) plans, coordinates and prioritizes the selection of grant-funded weapons of mass destruction (WMD) response equipment. This group has been a recipient of federal grants for regional equipment purchases since 1998. The workgroup includes representatives from fire service, agencies involved  with hazardous materials, law enforcement, emergency medical services, health industry, emergency management, hospitals and public works. 

Meetings: First Monday of the month, 10:00 AM to Noon

Training and Exercises

The Training and Exercises Workgroup identifies critical training and exercise needs and standards. They coordinate available training and exercise funds, resources and efforts with partner agencies in King County. They also investigate alternate training delivery methods such as web-based materials, and coordinate and evaluate Washington State-provided training and exercise opportunities along with local needs.

Meetings: Fourth Tuesday of the month, 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM

Planning and Administration

Responsabilities for the Planning and Administration Workgroup have been consolidated under EMAC assignments beginning in December 2006.


Critical Infrastructure: Threat and Vulnerability

The Critical Infrastructure Threat and Vulnerability Workgroup assesses the level of risk/threat and vulnerability in King County. They review critical infrastructure needs and make recommendations to the Regional Homeland Security Subcommittee and monitor the process for communicating with stakeholders and discipline groups.

Meetings: Third Thursday of the month, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

CERT/Citizen Corps Planning Group

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Citizen Corps (CC) Planning Group promote partnerships between emergency response agencies and the community. They train and educate citizens in lifesaving sills. Trained CERT members provide victims assistance and help first responders during disasters, hazard events and emergency situations. This workgroup administers federal grants that support the development and maintenance of CERT and Citizen Corp groups.

Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program (LETPP)

The Law Enforcement Terroism Prevention Program (LETPP) provides law enforcement communities with funds to support terrorism prevention activities. These grant projects are allocated and managed by the King County Police Chiefs Association.

Meetings: Projects are discussed at the monthly King County Police Chiefs Association meetings or as needed
