Overview

At DHS, we believe that we achieve the best outcomes for clients and communities when we have a diverse and culturally competent workforce. Our goal is to develop a workforce that reflects the diversity of our state. When you meet DHS employees, we expect that you will see in them, Oregon's diversity.

This diversity can be represented by ethnicity, gender, age, disability status, geographic region, and a host of other experiences or educational backgrounds.

As the state's human services agency, the DHS has provided leadership in hiring a diverse workforce. We acknowledge, however, that we have much more to do. Our primary goal is to make the department, its services and workforce more welcoming and more effective in service to all people in Oregon.

The department is setting priorities that will help us excel in hiring a diverse workforce and providing them with the support and tools they need to be successful. We can only maintain this workforce by developing our ability and skills in cultural competency.

This Web site is one of the tools for our employees to create that diverse, cultural competence through the workforce. Please take advantage of what you find here. If you have suggestions or questions, contact a representative of our Diversity Development Coordinating Council.
