Native American Liaison activities strive to maintain strong
communications and relations between the Service and Tribes. The
focus is based on the government’s trust responsibility
to Tribes to ensure that consultation and coordination with Tribes
takes place as the Service works to carry out its mission, and
that the Service provides assistance to Tribes, wherever possible.
The Service recognizes that Pacific Northwest Tribes have significant
reserved treaty rights and other rights related to fish and wildlife
resources. We look forward to continuing our efforts to work with
Tribes on fish and wildlife management, conservation and cultural
issues.
