The Asset Management Plan guides DSL in the care and management of the land, waterways and minerals under the stewardship of the State Land Board to provide the highest benefit for the Common School Fund.
Along with other state agencies, DSL has prepared a State Agency Coordination program to assure that DSL´s rules and programs affecting land use comply with the Statewide Planning Goals and are compatible with acknowledged city and county comprehensive plans and land use regulations.

Forest Plans
Elliott State Forest
The Oregon Department of Forestry has developed details for revising the forest management plan and the habitat conservation plan for the Elliott State Forest near Coos Bay.
The 1992 Lower Willamette River Management Plan covers the 17.5 miles of the Willamette River from Kelly Point Park to just above the Sellwood Bridge within the City of Portland. The plan provides policy direction and guidance to the Department of State Lands' regulatory and proprietary interests of the river.
The Strategic Plan guides the agency for the 2006-2010 period.
The plan contains the agency mission and vision statements along with eight goals with supporting actions. The plan also contains agency performance measures.
Oregon´s Wetland Conservation Strategy was developed by DSL with funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. It was developed with the help of several topical work groups, whose members represented multiple interests. The strategy was completed and adopted by the State Land Board in 1995. It functions as one of the department´s guiding documents.
