DBEDT Release News 05-06

Honolulu—State officials today announced a temporary interim website with visitor statistics, state data and business links sponsored by the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) at www.hawaii.gov/dbedt/interim for public access while the main DBEDT website is undergoing revisions and repairs. The DBEDT website is currently being migrated to a new web server by the Department of Accounting and General Services (DAGS) to resolve reliability and access problems.

"We understand how important the statistical information on our Web site is to the business community and the general public, so we have created a temporary site where users can access data while we resolve technical difficulties," said DBEDT Director Theodore E. Liu,. "With this interim site, we will be able to serve the majority of our users, and our staff is always available to provide direct assistance. We apologize for the down time, but want to assure the public that when DBEDT goes back online it will be a strong and reliable site. We appreciate the public's patience and understanding."

The DBEDT site, which is the most visited state web site, had been experiencing problems since late January. Though the site is now available at least 20 hours each day, the department has been emailing or faxing requested information to ensure the public receives needed tourism, labor, and other economic data. To request data, the public can call 808-586-2424 or email library@dbedt.hawaii.gov.
