Office of Native American Programs administers programs designed to support affordable
housing and community development activities for Native Americans, Alaska Natives,
and Native Hawaiians eligible to reside on Hawaiian Home Lands. The Native Hawaiian
programs include the Native Hawaiian Housing Block Grant and the Section 184A
Native Hawaiian Housing Loan Guarantee

Native Hawaiian Housing Block Grant (NHHBG) The Hawaii State Department of
Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) is the recipient of NHHBG funds. The use of NHHBG funds
is limited to eligible affordable housing activities for low-income Native Hawaiians

Section 184A Native Hawaiian Housing Loan
GuaranteeThe purpose of the Section 184A Native Hawaiian Housing Loan Guarantee
is to provide access to sources of private financing on Hawaiian home lands. Section
184A permits HUD to guarantee 100% of the unpaid principal and interest due on
an eligible loan. The program is designed to offer home ownership, property rehabilitation,
and new construction opportunities for eligible Native Hawaiian individuals and
families wanting to own a home on Hawaiian home lands. More
