Abstract The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) Public Transportation Section has published the Louisiana Transit Resource Guide to inform citizens, public officials, administrators, transit managers, and other interested parties about the availability of public transportation in Louisiana. The mission of the DOTD Public Transit Section is to improve public transit in all areas of the State so that Louisianas citizens may enjoy an adequate level of personal mobility regardless of geographical location, physical limitation or economic status. Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, Public Transportation Section is responsible for the administration of all federal transit assistance funds for Louisiana. Federal revenue sources administered or overseen by the Public Transportation Section of the DOTD include the Discretionary Capital, Metropolitan Planning, Urbanized Area Formula Program, Elderly and Persons with Disabilities, Nonurbanized Area Formula, Rural Technical Assistance, and State Planning and Research Programs. These seven programs impact public transit on a statewide basis. The Federal Transit Administration has mandated the coordination of transportation resources to the maximum extent possible. The Inter-Agency Transportation Coordination Committees (IATCCs) purpose as set forth under Executive Order MJF96-18 is to obtain the maximum use of transportation resources and increase the cost efficiency of providing transportation services by coordinating and consolidating administration, planning and funding of providing public and specialized transportation services. The guide gives a breakdown of transit funding and a directory with profiles of transit operating agencies listed by parish.
