Abstract The Governor's Road Improvement Program (GRIP) was initiated in 1989 by a resolution of the state legislature and the Governor to connect 95% of our state's cities (with a population of 2,500 or more) to the Interstate System. The GRIP system will ensure that 98% of all areas within the state will be within 20 miles of a four-lane road. The website provides listing of highways to be included in the Developmental Highway System, a map, facts, and a self-opening word document giving an overview and demographic and geographic factors behind the program.
