Abstract	The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) serves as transportation planner, coordinator, designer, builder and operator for Los Angeles county. More than 9 million people nearly one-third of Californias residents live, work, and play within its 1,433-square-mile service area. This website provides a wide range of information. The visitor can use the Metro Trip Planner to find what transit is available for specific trips. To use, the viewer enters start and end locations, time of day, and fare types. Other types of information to be found are maps of the transit system, schedules, EZ transit passes, regional transportation plans, legislative issues, Board of Directors, doing business with the MTA, employment opportunities, and organizational information.
