Abstract CommuterPage.com. is presented by Arlington County, Virginia, which sponsors the Commuter Assistance Program (CAP), serving people who live and/or work in, or travel through Arlington by providing programs and services that help them find a smarter way to work. CommuterPage.com. is designed to encourage the use of mass transit, carpooling and vanpooling, bicycling, walking, telecommuting/telework, and other alternatives to driving alone. Among the services on this site is a program to calculate the true cost of commuting. There is information on the local transit options. Scheduling information is provide through links in the site. Schedule information can be accessed not only on computer websites, but also downloaded to cell phones and hand-held devices. The Commuter Assistance Program provides information, services and ticket, token and pass sales (transit fares) through the four Arlington locations of The Commuter Store; locations and hours are listed on the website. The site contains information on free Employer Services through Arlington Transportation Partners. Arlington Transportation Partners staff assist employers in setting up on site commuter programs such as telework, transit benefit (Metrochek bicycle, and parking management and relocation programs that can increase a companys productivity, improve employee recruitment and retention, and reduce facility costs. Interested parties can find out information on telecommuting options, including the locations of telecommuting centers in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
