US101: Alsea Bay Bridge- William Keady Wayside (Waldport)
Weekly Updates
For the week of June 30:

Sidewalk paver installation and miscellaneous electrical work are planned. Delays are not expected.

Project Information

The City of Waldport has secured a Transportation Enhancement grant to beautify and upgrade the downtown streetscape.  The project is located on Hwy. 101 from the south end of the Alsea Bay Bridge to the William Keady Wayside.

Through this section of Hwy. 101, the pavement is worn and is in need of preservation.  The signal located at the intersection of Hwy. 101/34 needs to be upgraded and/or replaced.

The project completion is anticipated to be during the early summer of 2008.

Construction Overview
  • Anticipated work will include new sidewalks and ramps, pedestrian lighting, under grounding of overhead utilities.
  • Access Management is needed at the intersection of Hwy 101/34 to ensure safe turning movements.
  • Pavement through the section will be replaced by a grind / inlay procedure.
  • Final project features pedestrian friendly open spaces.
  • Traffic can expect minor delays and short term traffic control zones. Possible re-routing to secondary streets while paving activities occur. One lane closures are likely, and may include some night work.
  • Other funding sources include State funding from the Operations division for the signal improvements, and State funds for the pavement preservation work needed.

Cost Estimates
  • Estimated construction cost from the STIP $800,000 and approx. $1.3 Million from the State Transportation Enhancement Program.
  • Funding source is Federal and State.
