Regular-Issue License Plates
The "Tree" plate is DMV's standard-issue plate but DMV also offers other graphic plates like the Salmon, Crater Lake and Cultural plates. Certain vehicles may be eligible for an Amateur Radio Operator (HAM), Antique Vehicle or a Special Interest plate.

Available Regular-Issue Plates
Tree
Tree License Plate
Plate Fees: $5 per set
Available For: Passenger vehicles
Salmon
Plate Fees: $35 per set ($30 + $5 plate fee). The $30 surcharge is due at issuance and at every renewal. The Salmon surcharge is $60 when you are required to get four-year registration.
Surcharge Supports: Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department
Available For: Passenger vehicles
Crater Lake
Plate Fees: $25 per set ($20 + $5 plate fee). The $20 surcharge is a one-time surcharge.
Surcharge Supports: Crater Lake National Park
Available For: Passenger vehicles
Cultural
Cultural License Plate
Plate Fees: $35 per set ($30 + $5 plate fee). The $30 surcharge is due at issuance and at every renewal.
Surcharge Supports: Oregon Cultural Trust
Available For: Passenger vehicles
Amateur Radio Operator (Ham)
Ham License Plate
Ham plates can be issued in Salmon, Crater Lake and Cultural Plate designs in addition to the yellow background plate shown to the left. The digits reflect the call letters issued to the amateur radio operator. The plates are only issued to Oregon residents who hold valid, unrevoked and unexpired amateur radio station licenses issued by the Federal Communications Commission.
You must fill out the Application for Amateur Radio Call Letter Registration Plates to certify that you have a valid amateur radio license.
Plate Fees: $3 for mopeds or motorcycles; $5 per set for other vehicles
Additional Fees: $5 (one-time fee). If a Salmon, Crater Lake or Cultural Trust plate is chosen as background for a passenger vehicle, see sections above for information on surcharges.
Available For: Passenger vehicles in yellow background, Salmon design, Crater Lake design, or Cultural Trust design plates. Moped, motorcycle, and motor home plates are available in yellow background only.
Antique Vehicle
In 2008, a vehicle must have been manufactured in 1954 or earlier to qualify for this license plate. Vehicles must be maintained as a collector's item.
Plate Fees: $3 (one plate issued)
Available For: Passenger, motor home, bus, moped, motorcycle, truck, travel trailers, campers, special use trailers, heavy trailers and light trailers.
Special Interest
This plate is issued to a vehicle that is maintained as a collector’s item and is at least 25 years old at time of application or a vehicle sanctioned as a vehicle of special interest by an established organization that provides for recognition or is a street rod as defined by ORS 801.513. This plate is also issued to a vehicle that is a racing activity vehicle as defined in Oregon law.  Vehicles may only be used for exhibitions, parades, club activities and similar uses.
Plate Fees: $3 (one plate issued)
Available For: Passenger, motor home, bus, racing activity vehicle, moped, motorcycle, truck, travel trailers, campers, special use trailers, heavy trailers and light trailers

Note About the Above Fees
Registration fees depend on many factors. The fees in the above tables are only for the plates and do not include other registration fees. For more information on vehicle registration and the associated fees, see our registration page or our registration renewal page.
 
If you are changing to one of the above plate types or replacing the plate, the fee is $5 at renewal or $10 if you are between renewals (for the Amateur Radio, Antique and Special Interest plates, the fee is $5 regardless of when you are getting the plate).
