OFFICE OF SURFACE MINING For Release January 17, 1990 Alan Cole (202) 343-4719 RECLAMATION TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER SERVICE ANNOUNCED The Interior Department's Office of Surface Mining today announced it is issuing a periodic listing of publications, papers, and events designed to transfer the technology of mined land reclamation to a wide audience of individuals and organizations interested in the subject. OSM's first issue of RecTec, covering land reclamation, revegetation, and water quality issues, is dated January 1990. RecTec previously was issued on a periodic basis by the U.S. Forest Service in the Department of Agriculture. RecTec provides current information on upcoming professional society meetings related to land reclamation, lists calls for scientific papers in reclamation and related fields, and gives short abstracts of new technical publications and papers pertinent to reclamation technology. It is.designed as a convenient single source for up-to-date information on events related to reclaiming land used for surface mining. RecTec is distributed to government and private-sector reclamation professionals, mining industry organizations, educators, and students.
