When you get the flu, you expose your family, friends and co-workers to infection. Healthy adults may be able to infect others with the flu up to 1 day before they start having symptoms. And once sick, they can infect others for up to 5 days. That's why it's important for you to prevent the flu by getting your flu vaccine every year.

Here’s How:

No-charge flu shots at King County workplaces:

  • KingCare (Aetna), PacifiCare and Regence members workplace program has ended for 2007
  • December locations Group Health members

No-charge Flu shots for your family:

  • Aetna KingCaremembers can get a flu shot from Maxim Health Systems clinics being held through mid-November. Visit www.findaflushot.com or call Maxim’s automated locator system 24/ 7 toll free at (866) 466-2976. Be sure to bring your Aetna ID card.
  • Group Health Cooperative offers flu clinics for members at locations through the month of December. Call (800) 992-2279 or go to www.ghc.org for up-to-date times and places. Bring your Group Health ID.

Other flu-shot resources:

  • Public Health - Seattle & King County offers immunization clinics through walk-in or by appointment. Because Public Health cannot bill insurers for immunizations, there is a $25 charge for flu shots. Go to http://www.metrokc.gov/health/immunization/clinics.htm for complete clinic listings.
