Radar Data |

The National Weather Service
maintains a network of weather radars. These provide invaluable data for forecasting all
types of weather, especially tornadoes and severe thunderstorms with strong wind, hail and
torrential rain. Most of the doppler weather radar images available on the internet and TV
were obtained from the NWS. The picture at the left shows the radome at our office
that contains the radar antenna. It continually scans in all directions to give a
complete picture of precipitation in the atmosphere both horizontally and vertically every
6 minutes. Click here
for more detailed radar information and an explanation of radar images. |
