"While national politics and international challenges have been top of mind this past week, it's important to remember the issues which are significant here at home.

My Administration remains committed to the fundamental transformation of our economy through several long-term initiatives while also remaining focused on the immediate needs of all Hawai`i residents.

In addition to investing in our state's infrastructure and bolstering our visitor outreach, we are working to attract outside investments, especially in area of renewable energy.  We are also maximizing federal dollars and partnerships as well as exploring innovative uses for federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or TANF, funding to help create job opportunities in emerging industries.

These efforts, combined with lower fees and tax relief for residents, are immediate steps toward helping all the people of Hawai`i prepare for the 21st century global economy."
