The mission of the Operations and Business principal directorate is to enhance efficiency
and performance in the operations and business practices of the Lawrence Livermore
National Laboratory and thereby add value to the Laboratory’s
programs and deliverables.
The Operations and Business principal directorate consists of four elements:
Strategic Human Capital Management, responsible for recruiting and human
resources to attract and retain employees with the talent and skills necessary to execute LLNL’s programs.
Business Services, with responsibility for supply chain management, information and
communications services, financial operations, and technical information services.
Facilities and Infrastructure, including emergency management, environmental
restoration, facility management, plant engineering, and project management, engineering and construction.
Nuclear Operations, comprising nuclear facility management, safety analysis
engineering, radioactive hazardous waste management, packaging and transportation, and nuclear facility support.
In all of its activities, the Operations and Business principal directorate strives to identify
and exploit opportunities to create efficiencies by implementing best practices, integrating services and processes,and managing interfaces so that the Laboratory is able to carry out its national security mission effectively and efficiently.
