Current Status

Today, SASO is preparing for and executing primary tasks in the four work streams (Business Process Re-engineering, Systems Alignment, Enterprise Architecture, Change Management). Recently, SASO has achieved the following program milestones:

  • CFR Part 121: Currently conducting the ATOS 1.2 Full Scale Implementation Assessment. Recent/upcoming visits include:
    • Southwest Region/Dallas (March 2008)
    • Great Lakes Region/Indianapolis (April 2008)
    • Central Region/Memphis (May 2008)
    • Eastern Region/Garden City (June 2008)
  • CFR Part 135
    • Recently concluded “As-Is” data collection activities. Recent visits include:
      • Rochester (October/November 2007)
      • Columbus (November 2007)
      • St. Louis (January 2008)
      • Denver (January 2008)
      • Anchorage (February 2008)
    • Validated “As-Is” findings with the field (April 2008)
  • CFR Part 145:
    • Recently concluded “As-Is” data collection activities. Recent visits include:
      • Greensboro (May 2007)
      • Albuquerque (June 2007)
      • San Francisco IFO (September 2007)
      • Frankfurt IFO (February 2008)
    • Validated “As-Is” findings with the field (April 2008)

Going forward, in each of the pilot projects, SASO will be comparing the current oversight processes with the requirements for the future state to determine gaps, and then developing a more detailed plan for a future state of aviation safety oversight in all CFR parts.
