The Intrepid Museum is looking for a Vice President, Collections and Exhibitions. This VP develops and administers Intrepid Museum's short-term and long-range exhibit plan and budget, and is responsible for overseeing all facets of Intrepid Museum's exhibit records, collections, research, artifact acquisition, preservation, and restoration in accordance with museum policies.

The ideal candidates will have a Masters degree (MA/MS) in History or History of Science and Technology, or equivalent; and/or eight or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five or more years of supervisory and/or management experience is required. An ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents is required. Qualified candidates will have an ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and boards of directors. Extensive knowledge of and/or interest in American and world history, history of technology and science, and other aspects of history, including military, naval, air, and space history is necessary. A demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and motivate staff effectively, including team-building skills is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are also required. Qualified candidates must be able to write speeches, scripts, and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.

As a Water Treatment Operator with Metro Vancouver, you will be involved in significantly improving the drinking water quality for over 2 million residents by operating, monitoring, calibrating and assisting in the maintenance and repair of the water treatment systems and equipment.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to be part of the Seymour Capilano Filtration Plant, a brand new leading edge water treatment facility adjacent to Vancouver’s North Shore Mountains. The Seymour Capilano Filtration Plant will be Canada’s largest water filtration plant and the world’s largest UV facility. The Filtration Plant is currently under construction and is due to be completed in 2009.

In addition, Metro Vancouver has opportunities available at our Coquitlam Water Treatment Facility. The Water Treatment Operator operates the Coquitlam Water Treatment Facility, as well as 13 other facilities within Metro Vancouver. You will spend approximately 25% of your time at the Coquitlam facility and 75% of your time out in the distribution system. Our Coquitlam facility will be undergoing an upgrade, including the addition of a UV disinfection system, which will be operational in 2010.

We are looking for candidates who have achieved their Grade 12 education and who have graduated from a two year Water Quality Technology education program or related discipline (i.e. environmental sciences, environmental or chemical technology, instrumentation). BC EOCP Class II Water Treatment Operator Certification or provincial equivalent, along with two years work experience in a Water Treatment environment, is also required.
