Overview
  

The Division of Career and College Readiness (DCCR) provides leadership to promote quality career preparation and lifelong learning for Marylanders. The division is responsible for administering and supervising all aspects of juvenile services education and career and technology education.

In Focus
Maryland High School Career and Technology Education Programs of Study
Career Technology Education (CTE) provides high school and community college students an opportunity to pursue a sequential technical and academic program of study leading to advancement in a career field.

The Division includes the Juvenile Services Education Program. There are three branches within Career and Technology Education: Career and Technology Education Instruction, Career and Technology Education Student and Assessment Services, and Career and Technology Education Systems.

Career and Technology Education
The Career and Technology Education (CTE) branches provide leadership and technical assistance to ensure excellence in the comprehensive statewide system of career and technology education. That system offers programs and services in 16 community colleges and 24 local school systems, including  high schools and career centers. The CTE system is governed by the State Board of Education. The Maryland State Department of Education works closely with the Maryland Higher Education Commission to provide a seamless educational system for all Marylanders.

Juvenile Services Education Program
The Juvenile Services Education Program (JSEP) provides educational programs to detained and committed youth in the Department of Juvenile Services residental facilities. Direct services are provided in core academic subjects in four detention facilities and one treatment facility. Career Technology Education and transition/life skills programs are also provided.
