Senator Carper visited the Smyrna Opera House to see first-hand the recently-completed renovations. During the tour, Senator Carper and Jim Cantillon, president of the Smyrna Clayton Heritage Association, went up to the roof to get a closer look at the bell that hangs above the opera house.

Senator Carper stopped by to see progress on the first home built under the Carper/City of Dover Initiative. He was joined by proud owner Mr. Whitehurst in front of the almost-completed house. They held photos of the house from the day it was demolished in October 2005.

Senator Carper visited the Mid-Atlantic Biodiesel Facility to check on the progress of the facility which was scheduled to open later in the summer. Founder Marty Ross presented the senator with an aerial photo of the facility in gratitude for the senator's help getting the project up and running.
