Learn More About the World’s Leaders in Chiefs of State
Have you ever wondered who heads the governments of Austria, Indonesia,
Rwanda, or Venezuela? Do you know if Guinea
has a president or a king? And do you know which countries have a Ministry of
Youth and Sports?
All of this information – and much more – can be found in one of the CIA’s
premier publications, Chiefs of State and
Cabinet Members of Foreign Governments. The CIA’s Directorate of
Intelligence regularly publishes and updates Chiefs of State – a directory of foreign government officials.
Visitors to the CIA Web site can access individual
country reports or download
a current copy of Chiefs of State. Updates
to the directory are highlighted on the CIA’s homepage.
The directory – which is intended to be used primarily as a reference – includes
nearly 200 governments. Governments are listed in alphabetical order according
to the most commonly used version of each country's name. The spelling of the
personal names in this directory follows transliteration systems generally
agreed upon by US Government agencies, except in the cases in which officials
have stated a preference for alternate spellings of their names.
Leaders of the world change on a regular basis, and Chiefs of State will keep you informed.
