The AFSC Committee on Outreach, Education, and Diversity (COED) was formed in 2006 (from the former AFSC Diversity Panel) to develop, maintain and improve education and outreach activities that support the AFSC’s mission to communicate scientific information generated to protect, conserve, and manage living marine resources in Alaska.
To successfully fulfill this mission, COED members use a variety of communication tools and form key partnerships with nongovernmental organizations, academic institutions and other NOAA offices, to help raise awareness of AFSC science for a variety of audiences, both academic (K-12, university) and community (constituents, general public).
COED has formed partnerships with the Pacific Science Center and Seattle Aquarium to help develop and provide a venue for educational activities and displays involving AFSC science.
