Sexually Transmitted Diseases > SAS License Request Instructions
Notice to CDC Grantees Who can request SAS products? According to the SAS license agreement, any CDC grant recipient may use SAS products for "Program Activities". Program Activities consist of the use of SAS Institute products for the development, deployment and operation of computer applications or information systems for the identification, collection, management, reporting, tracking, and analysis of the disease, health event, health condition, and health determinant data required for national systems of surveillance or research in order to fulfill the mission of the CDC/ATSDR Program Activities as specified in the applicable grant or cooperative agreement between CDC/ATSDR and the grantee. For the purpose of this license agreement, a Grantee is defined as the local or state agency (e.g. STD program) that receives funding from official grants or cooperative agreements from CDC for the purpose of conducting disease surveillance. Sub-recipients (e.g. city or county STD programs within a state) may not individually request SAS products through this mechanism. However, the designated authority within the agency receiving the grant may make this request, if appropriate, so that the requested SAS products are distributed to the sub-recipients. What SAS products are available? A detailed list of the available SAS products is provided in SAS CD Sets Available to CDC Grantees . Because of the extensive nature of this list, STD project areas are strongly encouraged to request only those SAS products they need. Additional requests can be made later if needs change. What are the SAS license requirements? CDC grant recipients may request SAS products via this mechanism only after acknowledging and accepting the terms of this license agreement. Please refer to CDC-SAS License Provisions for a complete list of the terms of this agreement. In addition, quarterly reports that document the SAS product usage are required. For details of this reporting requirement refer to SAS Institute Products Requirements and Reporting Procedures . How to request SAS products? The following steps describe the process that must be followed for requesting SAS products under this CDC license agreement.
What about SAS Training and Product Support? The Division of STD Prevention is not staffed with the resources needed in order to provide training and support for these products. These services can be obtained from numerous other sources under separate contract, including the SAS Institute, but STD grantees should not plan on CDC assistance in the use of these products. In addition, this license agreement states that the SAS Institute will not provide training or support of SAS products distributed to CDC grantees under this agreement.
