Program Description
Developmental program provides:
  • substantial personal knowledge about the government of Japan
  • one-year intensive Language and Area Studies training
  • one-year working full-time in ministries, parliamentary offices or other agencies of the Japanese government, or in non-governmental Japanese institutions
Who is eligible?

 
FAS National Office employees
Nominees must be a:
  • U. S. citizen
  • Current federal government employee with at least two consecutive years of service immediately preceding the application deadline
Program Duration
2-years beginning in September
Program Announcement Date
Usually in November (every three years)

Selection Process
The Center competitively selects and awards the Mike Mansfield Fellowships based on each applicant's qualifications relative to the entire pool of applicants.
