Media Information

The Sheriff's Office believes that an open dialogue with the public and with the media is an essential part of our mission to provide quality and professional law enforcement services. In order to carry our responsibilities, a responsive and professional approach to the news media is necessary. Our goal is to provide all appropriate information to the news media as expeditiously and accurately as possible.

Our Media Relations Officer, Sgt. John Urquhart, is available to respond to media inquires and requests. He can be reached at (206) 296-7528 during business hours. If we are unable to answer the phone immediately, please leave a voice mail message so that we can return your call as early as we can.

News Releases

News releases are issued regularly and are sent via e-mail to local media outlets. In addition, news releases are archived on our web set and can be accessed at the link above and downloaded anytime.

You may also call our News Phone (24 hours) at (206) 296-3841. The line is updated by our Communications Center about 6 a.m. most mornings, and will have information about incidents which occurred overnight.

Media Credentials

The Sheriff's Office does not issue media credentials. However you may obtain credentials from the Seattle Police Department. More information is available on the SPD web site.
