Oregon Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program ORELAP

ORELAP has been recognized as an accrediting authority

The Oregon Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program has been granted approval by the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) to serve as a national environmental laboratory accreditation authority. ORELAP is accrediting laboratories for testing used to analyze environmental samples in Air, Drinking Water, Non-potable Water, Soil.

ORELAP is currently accrediting laboratories to standards adopted at the 2003 National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Conference (NELAC).

History: House Bill 2177 establishing ORELAP was approved during the 1999 Oregon legislative session and the Oregon Administrative Rules 333-64-005 through 0065 (presented above) regulating this new program were adopted in October 1999. According to these regulations, ORELAP accredits laboratories through the joint efforts of the Oregon Department of Human Services, Health Services, Public Health Laboratory (PHL), Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and the Oregon Department of Agriculture, with the Public Health Laboratory serving as home for ORELAP’s administrative office. ORELAP now replaces the Oregon Drinking Water Laboratory Certification Program .

Modifications to OAR 333-64-005 through 33-64-0065 were filed on October 10, 2000 to update the NELAC standard and adjust the fees.
