Kingsley Field sirens to sound during exercise

Klamath Falls, Ore. - Klamath Falls residents can expect to hear Kingsley Field sirens sound off several times during a base-wide military exercise June 20-23, 2002. Members of the 173rd Fighter Wing will be participating in the exercise for an air education and training inspection.

The exercise will involve operations related to aircraft generation and the simulated deployment of assets to overseas locations. Approximately 700 members from the 173 FW will be participating.

A significant part of the four-day exercise will include variations in threat conditions-some involving simulated chemical attacks-during which military members will be evaluated on their ability to survive and operate while donning and wearing specialized chemical warfare suits for extended periods of time. All threats will be simulated.

There is no need to be concerned or alarmed when the sirens are operated.
