Bend's National Guard unit to hold Change of Command Ceremony Friday
 
The 1-82 Cavalry Squadron of the Oregon Army National Guard will hold their change of command ceremony Friday at 2pm. The ceremony will be held at the Les Schwab Amphitheatre in Bend with a reception immediately following at the armory. The public is invited to attend. The armory is located at 875 SW Simpson Ave. in Bend, and the amphitheatre is across the street from the armory.
 
In the ceremony, current commander Lt. Col. Eric C. Bush will give command of the squadron to Maj. William J. Prendergast IV, the current executive officer. Bush, who is the Chief of Police for the city of Prineville, has commanded the unit since 2004.
 
The 1-82 Cavalry Squadron of the Oregon National Guard is a reconnaissance squadron based in Bend and recently had 91 Soldiers deployed to Afghanistan.
