Secretary of Air Force to Visit Portland
 
The Secretary of the Air Force, Michael W. Wynne will visit the Oregon National Guard early next week. Mr. Wynne's visit helps the 142nd Fighter Wing celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the U.S. Air Force and kick off the Cities of Honor dedication, which will recognize communities in Oregon that have offered assistance to the 142nd Fighter Wing based in Portland.

Mr. Wynne's trip will include visits with Major General Raymond F. Rees, Commander of the Oregon Army National Guard and Brigadier General Daniel B. O'Hollaren, Commander of the Oregon Air National Guard.

As the Secretary of the Air Force, Mr. Wynne's responsibilities include organizing, training, equipping and providing for the welfare of the nearly 370,00 men and women who are currently on active duty, and the 180,000 members of the Air National Guard and the Air Force reserve. A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, Mr. Wynne served in the Air Force for seven years, ending his career as a captain and assistant professor of astronautics at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Portland and Vancouver will be the first cities to named cities of honor. More communities will be named on Young American Day, which will take place on June 9, 2007.
