Press Release

Rescue delayed due to location of victim

The Blackhawk helicopter from the 1042nd Medical Company (Air Ambulance) Oregon Army National Guard sent to rescue a 40 year old female from the east face of Mt. Washington has placed a ground crew on the ground. Due to the location of the victim, the ground crew will relocate the victim to a location where the Blackhawk will be able to effect a hoist operation to take her off the mountain and to the nearest medical facility or medical carrier dependent upon her condition.

The victim was located at a site that precluded the use of the Blackhawk and a hoist operation to recovery her from the mountain. A ground crew from Linn County is moving her to a location in which the Blackhawk can then use the hoist to remove her from the mountain.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
