Last of 2-162 Soldiers returning to Oregon tomorrow
 
The last of the 2nd Battalion, 162 Soldiers who were deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom will be returning from Ft. Lewis, WA on March 31, 2005. Two commercial buses will depart Thursday morning with an anticipated arrival time of noon at the new Pavilion at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem, Ore. Family and friends are invited to meet on site to greet them.
 
These soldiers comprises two groups. The largest group is made up of soldiers injured while on active duty and have been placed on medical hold until their injuries are resolved or they become discharged from the Army. The second group of soldiers were transported directly to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma for a school, which now makes them eligible for promotional opportunities. One of these soldiers is Staff Sgt., Matt Zedwick of Bend, Ore who was awarded the Silver Star for Valor.
 
Please encourage the citizens of Oregon to line the overpasses and come out in support of these fine soldiers.
