Detailed Description:
-
See the Climate Research Unit (CRU) webpage for more details.
A climatology (1961-90) is provided which
is based on the variance adjusted version HADCRUT2v as this has been corrected for changes in
the numbers of stations/SST observations in the individual grid-box series.
The air temperature data is from monthly station temperature time series.
A version that is variance corrected (CRUTEM2V) is available.
The technique for the variance adjusted dataset can be found
at Jone et. al (2001).

- Please note: If you acquire CRUTEM2 data products from PSD, we ask that you acknowledge us in your use of the data. This may be done by including text such as CRUTEM2 data provided by the NOAA/OAR/ESRL PSD, Boulder, Colorado, USA, from their Web site at http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/ in any documents or publications using these data. We would also appreciate receiving a copy of the relevant publications. This will help PSD to justify keeping the CRUTEM2 data set freely available online in the future. Thank you!
