King County accepting proposals for HIV/AIDS care services

KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON - Starting today, public and non-profit entities in King County are invited to submit their proposals for targeted HIV/AIDS care services from March 2009 through February 2010.

The projected amount available in this competitive Request-for-Proposal (RFP) application process is approximately $5.15 million.

Based on needs assessment and prioritization processes conducted by the HIV/AIDS Planning Council and Public Health - Seattle & King County, funding will be awarded in the following care service categories:

Ambulatory/Outpatient Medical Care $1,222,000
Food Banks/Home Delivered Meals $215,000
Housing Services $900,000
Medical Case Management $1,480,000
Medical Nutrition Therapy $131,000
Mental Health Services $355,000
Oral Health Care $422,000
Psychosocial Support Services $78,000
Substance Abuse Services (Outpatient) $245,000

The RFP for HIV/AIDS care services is available on the King County Procurement and Contract Services Section website at www.metrokc.gov/procurement.

These funds are only for HIV-related care services, and a separate funding process will be conducted by King County for HIV prevention funds in spring 2009.

Completed applications must be received at the Procurement Services office by 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Funding decisions will be announced in late December 2008.

A technical assistance Pre-Proposal Conference for potential applicants will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm in Conference Room 121 on the first floor of the Chinook Building, 401 Fifth Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to attend.
