WELCOME TO USAID | LEBANON |
Side-by-side with the Lebanese people, the U.S. Agency for International Development works to bring hope and prosperity to Lebanon. This partnership between the people of America and Lebanon dates back to 1951, and continues in strength today. The American people are contributing $67.5 million to USAID’s programs in Lebanon in 2009. USAID invests those funds in a range of areas that Lebanon has identified as priorities, including support for an effective judicial system, strengthening civil society, economic growth and prosperity, improving public education facilities, water resource and environmental management, and reconstruction.. In addition to the assistance to many municipalities regarding the elections, USAID will work with major municipalities, including Beirut, Tripoli, Zahle, Saida, Baabda and Bourj Hammoud, on the modernization of their administrative organizational structures.
