The Surgeon General’s Report on Physical Activity and Health provides information and research about how physical activity is defined, the long and short term effects of physical activity on health and disease, trends in physical activity in the US, and how to promote physical activity.

Public Health Seattle and King County lists research about physical activity levels in King County and education about how physical activity benefits health.

The University of Washington’s Health Promotion Research Center published a report entitled Employment-Based Prevention of Chronic Disease in Washington State, 2005. This report in its entirety can be downloaded (warning: large file - 3.9MB). It provides information on Washington state statistics, activities in the state, employer thoughts on health promotion, and recommendations for implementation.
