New Employee Orientation

New Employee Orientation cover King County organization, important county policies, the state retirement system and your health, insurance and other benefits. Links to most of the information explained at NEOs are provided under "Links to Help."

Regular Employees

If you're a regular employee, you must attend a NEO within your first seven days in a new job. NEOs are held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. every Wednesday in Conference Room 121 on the first floor of The Chinook Building, 401 Fifth Ave. (Fifth Avenue and Jefferson Street), Seattle.

If you are not eligible for benefits, you only need to attend the first half of the NEO, which ends around 10:35 a.m. and covers county organization and policies that every employee needs to know.

Usually your supervisor or human resources representative registers you for your NEO, but you may register yourself by e-mailing your request, including your name, requested NEO date and whether your are eligible for benefits and retirement, to kc.orientations@kingcounty.gov. For more information, call 206-684-1556 (711 TTY).

Transit Operators

If you're a full-time or part-time transit operator, you receive NEO during your training to qualify as a transit operator. For more information, talk to your trainer.

Deputy Sheriffs

If you're a deputy sheriff, the Sheriff's Office Personnel Unit conducts your NEO. For more information, talk to your personnel representative.

Current for 2008.
