NASA to Host Round Table Featuring Four Former Ames Directors
 
 
MOFFETT FIELD, Calif. – As part of NASA’s 50th anniversary celebration, NASA Ames Research Center Director S. Pete Worden is inviting four former Ames directors to join him at a Directors’ Round Table discussion at Ames on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008.

News media are invited to attend the discussion from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. PDT in the Ames main auditorium, Bldg. N-201. Following the Round Table, news media are invited to ask questions of the former Ames directors during a media opportunity from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. PDT in the Jack Boyd Committee Room, Bldg. N-200.

Joining Worden at the Round Table will be Hans Mark, who served as Ames director from 1969 to 1977 and later served as Deputy Administrator of NASA and Secretary of the Air Force; Sy Syvertson, who was named Ames director in 1977; Dale Compton who was named Ames director in 1989 and Scott Hubbard, who served as Ames director from 2002 to 2006.

“Each of these individuals has made significant contributions to Ames and NASA and it will be interesting to hear about the challenges they each faced and the key contributions they feel they and the center made during their tenures as center director,” Worden said.

WHEN: Directors’ Round Table, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. PDT, Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008. Media Briefing, 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. PDT, Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008.

WHO: Ames Center Director S. Pete Worden and four previous Ames center directors.

To reach NASA Ames, drive on U.S. 101, exit at Moffett Field/NASA Parkway, drive east on Moffett Boulevard towards the main gate. News media planning to attend will need to obtain visitor badges in the Visitor Badge Office, located at the main gate in Bldg. 26. After entering the main gate, turn left onto Arnold Avenue and enter the second gate to the center. The main auditorium, Bldg. N-201, is located directly behind the administration building, N-200, as you enter the center.
