HIV/SIV Vaccine Trials Database News

New Home Page, New Cross-Table Form:
We have developed a new entry point into the database, called the "Cross-Table Form." This form allows you to select two sets of values for tabulation in a table. We think this will prove to be a very useful tool. Also, and largely because of the new Cross-Table Form, we created a new home page from which you can select the Search Form or the Cross-Table Form.  14 July 2004

Adjuvant/Stimulant Database Search Feature:
We have developed a search interface to the Adjuvant/Stimulant Database (see 11 August 2003 news item below) which operates independently of the main vaccine trial search criteria. This tool is located on the sidebar of the page. Click on Adjuvants/Stimulants to test this new feature.  6 May 2004

Search by Region:
We have added the ability to search for trials by region used in vaccines. See the new 'Regions' menu in the search form.  20 April 2004

New Display Format – Results Summary:
We have converted the previous "Results Tabulation" display, which was in Beta Test, to a display format, so you can now select that display (Results Summary) from the display format menu. Note that this display is currently in trial number sequence, with no options to change the order. This will be enhanced in the future to enable ordering by result column.  28 January 2004

Introductory Tour:
Please notice the new Introductory Tour link in the left sidebar, under Vaccine Trials DB. This introduction was prepared by Dr. John Mokili, and first used at the AIDS Vaccine 2003 conference as part of the training workshop for the Lanl HIV Databases.  24 November 2003

New Display in Beta Test – "Results Tabulation":
There is a new display currently in Beta Test, called Results Tabulation. Click on "Results Tabulation" (in the column along the left, in the section Vaccine Trials DB) to try it out. Please note that only a small amount of data for the results fields exist in the database, so please use this table strictly as an example of what we are working on.  10 September 2003

Change in Source for Adjuvant/Stimulants:
We have incorporated the Adjuvant Compendium developed by Dr. Carl Alving (and his collaborators at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Washington DC) to allow interactive search for adjuvants and other vaccine stimulating agents. Only the adjuvants that have been used in a vaccine study entered in this database can be retrieved but a more comprehensive list of adjuvants/stimulants can be obtained elsewhere by clicking on the following link http://www.niaid.nih.gov/daids/vaccine/adjuvants.htm.  11 August 2003

New Displays - "Reference" and "All Details":
A new display format, Reference, has been added to the display format menu. This format shows the minimum reference information: trial number, first author, publication year, pubmed number, and title. Also, a new detailed display, "All Details" has been added to the pop-up detail menu. This display shows the full details for the selected trial. This choice is available only for the Current Database; it is not available for trials in the Previous Database.  08 April 2003

Trials Data from Previous Database Added to the Current Database:
Vaccine trial data from the Previous Database, maintained by Dr. Jon Warren through 1999, has been added to the Current Database. The Search form will find matches in the current database first, and a new button, "View Trials in Previous Database", at the top of the results display will allow you to view matches in the previous database.  08 April 2003

HIV/SIV Vaccine Trials Database released in Beta Test:
The new database for animal vaccine trials is now available as a beta test release. Please let us know if you experience any problems or have suggestions for improving the database.  19 December 2002
