Drought Termination and Amelioration Ending Current Drought
|
These 36 maps depict the precipitation, associated probabilities and percent of normal precipitation needed to end or ameliorate drought as it currently exists across the country. Twelve of the images depict the amount of precipitation needed for drought termination and amelioration over time scales from 1 to 6 months. Twelve images depict the associated probabilities of receiving the necessary amount of precipitation. The final 12 images depict the percent of normal precipitation which is required to end or ameliorate drought. The end of a drought is defined by a PHDI value of -0.5 while drought amelioration is achieved when a PHDI value of -2.0 is reached.
