75th Anniversary

It's Fish Culture!

We believe there is more to the hatchery than hatching and raising fish! In addition to the six species of fish we work with we have a part in studying the alligator snapping turtle and the Louisiana pearlshell mussel.

Fish and aquatic life has been a part of the human culture and history at the site of the Natchitoches National Fish Hatchery for a very long time.

Today it continues through programs like Recovery and Restoration work with endangered and threatened species, and raising Recreational species for sportsfishing on the nation's waters.
