It is important to know what types and extents of damage or leaks
can be repaired without replacements being performed.
Discussion of Progress
There are currently several potential repair techniques that may
be suitable for hydrogen pipe such as using clock spring techniques or other
permanent repair methods.
ASME B31.12 is considering the need for full cylinder replacement
for defects that must be repaired.
Recommendations
Standards for repairs of leaks, welds, etc. for hydrogen
transmission lines must be established and incorporated by reference into the federal
code.
