Aug. 25, 2006 CLARIFICATION:A new voter to Washington State may register in person at the Auditor’s Office until September 1. The 2006 Legislature eliminated the practice of allowing a voter to transfer their registration between 30 and 15 days prior to an election. Voter registration deadline fast approachingKing County Elections open extra hours to accommodate rushTo be eligible to vote in the September 19 primary, new voters in Washington State must complete their registration in person by Friday, September 1. To ensure that everyone has the opportunity to vote, King County Elections staff will be open this Saturday to register new voters. Friday, September 1 is the last day for in-person registration at the King County Elections office in downtown Seattle or the six King County Community Service Centers located around the county. The deadline for registering by mail or updating your registration passed on August 19. To accommodate new applicants, the King County Elections office has extended its hours and will be open on Saturday, August 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Access will be from the Third Avenue entrance to the King County Courthouse.
