The Check Claims Branch upholds the Government’s financial integrity by the prompt adjudication and settlement of check claims for and against the United States.
Investigates and responds to all inquiries relative to the adjudication of check claims. Inquiries are received from a variety of sources to include Congressional Offices, the White House, Federal Program Agencies, Financial Institutions, Federal Reserve Banks, payees and other entities.
Processes requests for original, certified, and regular photocopies of U.S. Treasury checks from the U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Attorneys Offices, Agency Offices of the Inspector General, and Military Investigative Commands.
Analyzes and assesses processes and services to develop recommendations and methods of enhancing customer relations; anticipates and remedies problematic situations; and continuously assesses interdependent operations for impact on the Branch and customer.
Conducts on-site training, seminars, and conferences to keep Federal Program Agencies abreast of various Financial Management Service payment and claims processes.
