Weekly Users' Meeting Minutes -- June 4, 2008

Schedule

X-ray: No special requests.

VUV: U. of Florida group is planning to come for timing runs during July and August.

Machine Status

Beam observation was held 6/3/08. No complaints were heard so the assumption is everyone
is happy. From 1500-1630 hrs yesterday the X17 He liquifier was turned off and noise was
checked at X1, X15B and any other x-ray beamlines who wanted to look. No reduction in
beam noise was observed.

Users thanked the machine operations group as well as mechanical and safety engineers for
making it possible to get back to operations after the shutdown with no hitches or loss of
available beam time.

LN2 dewars at west rollup area are blocking returned helium gas tanks.
High-purity helium gas is hard to get reliably, possibly a BNL-wide issue.
